Last Wednesday, Faster Solutions was a proud sponsor of the Northland Social Media Conference, an exciting event in Duluth, MN. The event featured a keynote from Jay Baer, who shared his humorous expertise on creating social media strategies and maintaining a presence in the social media world.
The day-long event was held at Lake Superior College in Duluth and included large group sessions, break out sessions, and an expert panel discussion. One of our marketing managers, Allie Bjerketvedt, sat on the panel to answer questions from the audience and take part in the discussion led by Jay Baer. The break out sessions were geared towards small business, not-for-profits, and marketing managers. The subjects presented included crisis management, getting started with Facebook, using social media to fundraise and plan events, blogging information and many other helpful topics.
A highlight of the event was seeing local business members start to get excited about using social media. As stated by Allie Bjerketvedt, “It was very fun to watch the live Twitter feed on my phone and keep up with everyone who was live-tweeting during the conference using the tag #nowduluth. This was my first opportunity to partake in an event where I was able to interact with other people attending the conference through Twitter.”
Our favorite quote from Jay Baer was “People think social media is some kind of unicorn, but it’s really just a horse.” Meaning that social media is not meant to be so intimidating, it’s just a matter of getting started. If you weren’t able to attend the conference, or even if you did and you are in need of some expert help in getting started, we are here ready and waiting to learn more about your business!
